Adele Brice’s life inspires students as path to sainthood begins

FOX CROSSING, Wis. (WBAY) – The journey toward possible sainthood for Adele Brice has become a topic of conversation in the local Catholic community and its schools. Some students are getting a refresher on what this journey looks like and who Adele was.

At St. Mary Catholic Middle School in Fox Crossing, students are learning about Sister Adele Brice, who lived more than a century ago, but whose story is getting renewed attention.

“She’s also from like Wisconsin and it kind of like makes me feel like I could become a Saint someday too,” said Libby Roth, a student.

Sister Adele Brice was a Belgian immigrant who said the Virgin Mary appeared to her in Northeast Wisconsin in 1859, calling her to teach children about the faith in exchange for work on the farm.
